Tug 5 (8 feet 6 inches)
The Tug 5 is a very versatile cathedral hull design boat. This boat is used in the recreational market and the commercial market for a multitude of different applications, the boat is surprisingly stable and carries a lot of weight for its size because of its hull design. It’s essentially a Tug 10 cut shorter. This boat fits into the back of a double cab bakkie with the canopy still on, with the tail gate up and the canopy back door flap open. Its suitable for a father and son type scenario for fishing on farm dams or on relatively calm water. It’s very stable for standing in and casting lures or flies.
We can build 3 variations of this boat. The first option is a basic hull , no floorboards, no front casting deck and no back glassed in seating box creating a splash well. This boat has the option of 1 glassed in or 2 glassed in bench seats.
The second option is a boat that has a glassed-in floor, a glassed in rear seating box creating a splash well and a glassed in casting deck in front. There is an open deck between the back box and the front casting deck, although a glassed-in bench seat is an option in this area.
Both the above options have a duck bill scupper and a drain plug, this allows the boat to be drained when tilted backwards or on the plane. In the stationery position the duck bill scupper is under the water line.
The third option is what we refer to as the Tug 5 Tender. This boat has the casting deck in front and a glassed-in bench seat at the rear, it includes a raised glassed-in floor incorporating non return scuppers in the transom. This boat is suitable for tying up to a dock / jetty or a mother boat without the risk of rain swamping the boat if left unattended as it is self-draining (wet deck design).
All the Tug 5 models are modular built boats and as such we can incorporate all sorts of custom designs and ideas to suit your needs, please contact us or an agent to discus if you have any special requirements or need a specific design for a particular job requirement.
