Tug 25 (13 feet 6 inch)

The Tug 25 was the first of a couple of new boats that we have introduced into our range. It’s essentially an extension of the Tug 20 incorporating higher sides resulting in a slightly increased length. It has a slightly larger casting deck incorporating an anchor hatch and other hatches in the deck to give access to the underside of the casting deck. There is a sneaker motor mount molded into the front deck. There is a glassed in battery box under the casting deck to house a dedicated sneaker motor battery. There is a 25mm conduit pipe running under the deck connecting a glassed-in hatch on the rear starboard side of the boat to the underside of the front casting deck. This rear starboard hatch has a single lid, inside the hatch is another glassed in battery box to accommodate the motor’s battery. There is also a 75mm conduit running under deck to inside/ under the console, this is the accommodate and house the fuel line, control cables and other service cable that require connections between the rear of the craft and the console/ control center of the vessel. On the port rear side of the boat there is a glassed-in hatch. This hatch incorporates a live bait well with 2 plugs that once opened flood a chamber with enough water to contain reasonably sized live bait. The water in this chamber is exchanged continuously with fresh water with the mere movement of the boat on the water. I have personally tested this method and it works fantastically without a pump that you need not worry about draining your battery. There is a box / seat hatch installed behind the console which doubles up as a seat when travelling or when stationery. It can also be used as an ice box, if one removes everything inside of it, a bag or 2 of ice can be opened in there and all your cooldrinks and drinks placed inside. There is a drain plug on the back side of this hatch that can be opened for the melted ice to drain out onto the deck and out the back of the boat through the scuppers. The boat is designed as a wet deck with one-way scuppers as standard. The underside of the console accommodates a single 20l spug type fuel tank. The front of the console has a sponge upholstery covered seat cover with a hinged lid that can accommodate a second tank of fuel when required, alternatively your safety equipment. There is a stainless-steel grab bar running around the front edge of the boat essentially protecting / giving the casting deck some protection and a sense of safety with something to grab or hold onto. There is another grab rail running over the top of the console and the plexiglass wind shield. We have incorporated a 40mm stainless roll bar mounted onto the transom as an option protecting the motor and giving additional support while standing at the back of the boat.

A feature that we’ve introduced into the Tug 25 that’s a very strong differentiating fact from other vessels in its class is the fact that the deck and the transom of the boat is constructed of composite materials which means no rotting and maintenance down the road.

I have spent 4 days fishing for Tiger fish on a Tug 25 at Jozini dam and encountered some serious stormy weather and strong winds, the boat handled the rough water with ease, at no point did I feel unsafe or compromised. If you are looking for a little boat that can handle all freshwater bodies of water with ease including rivers and estuaries, but do not require a boat that needs to be operated in the open ocean, then the Tug 25 must be given some serious consideration.

The Tug 25 operates beautifully on a 40hp 2 stroke trim and tilt motor. PMB trailer and boat build a very neat well priced trailer for this boat. It tows beautifully without you hardly even noticing that you are towing.

It is a modular built boat which means we can incorporate some personal designs and requirements, but really the standard version is so well thought out and designed it accommodates a lot.

Just recently we have designed and built a top cap for this boat essentially incorporating/ linking the front casting deck and the back hatches with a neat gunnel trim that is finished off with an o boat trim and rub rail . This will now become the new standard for the Tug 25.

Please feel free to contact us or an agent should you wish to discuss a build or if you would like a test ride, we could arrange it.
